A NOVAH SERVICE

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Specialized, respectful care for the pelvic floor — easing pain, leaking, prolapse and the changes of pregnancy, so you can move through life with comfort and confidence.

One discipline in your coordinated Novah plan. Private, unhurried, and always at your pace.

Care for the pelvic floor

Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles that support your bladder, bowel and sexual function. When they become too tight or too weak, the result can be pain, leaking, or a feeling of heaviness or prolapse — common problems that are rarely talked about, and very treatable.

Pelvic Health Physiotherapists are Registered Physiotherapists with advanced training in this area. Using exercises, hands-on treatment, education and, where helpful, tools like biofeedback or a pessary, they help restore how your pelvic floor works — and reduce, often resolve, your symptoms.

At Novah, this care is part of a plan that considers the whole person, not just one set of muscles.

About Novah — treatment by decreasing load and increasing capacity
WHERE IT FITS

One part of a bigger plan

Like the rest of physiotherapy, pelvic health care is about restoring balance. Here that’s especially direct: releasing tension where muscles have become too tight, and building strength where they’ve become too weak — so your body can do what it needs to with less strain.

When it helps to combine this with other care at Novah, your team coordinates everything around one plan.

What to expect

1
We start with you

A private, unhurried conversation about your symptoms, your history and your goals. Everything you share is confidential and safeguarded.

2
A careful assessment — at your pace

Your therapist assesses your low back, hips and pelvis. This often includes an internal exam to assess the pelvic floor muscles directly — but only with your consent. It’s never done if you’re in acute pain or uncomfortable with it, and you’re in control at every step.

3
A plan built around your goals

Together you’ll agree on an individualized plan — which may include education, lifestyle adjustments, exercises, hands-on treatment, and where helpful, biofeedback or a pessary.

4
Support, with a clear path

Everyone’s recovery is different. Your therapist will explain what to expect and what realistic timelines look like, so you always know where you’re headed.

What’s a pessary? A pessary is a soft, flexible device that gently supports pelvic organs that have shifted or prolapsed — a common, non-invasive option for prolapse and some kinds of leaking. It’s comfortable, easily removed and reinserted, and can be managed by your therapist or, once you’re comfortable, by you.
