Doctors of Chiropractic (Chiropractors) are spine, muscle, joint and nervous system experts. They use the best available scientific evidence and clinical experience to evaluate, diagnose and manage issues within these systems.
What to expect when you see a Chiropractor
At your first appointment we start by understanding your symptoms, relevant medical information and any factors that may be contributing to your experience. Any personal and health information you provide to your Chiropractor is completely confidential and will be safeguarded.
Next a thorough physical evaluation of your condition is performed. If diagnostic imaging is necessary, your Chiropractor will requisition or refer you for these tests.
Based on the assessment findings and your personal goals, an individualized treatment plan will be proposed. Treatments may include education, self-management techniques, lifestyle modifications, exercises, soft tissue therapy, acupuncture and manual manipulation.
Manual manipulation of the vertebrae of your spine or other joints, also called an ‘adjustment’ is one of the most frequent treatments a Chiropractor uses. An adjustment is performed by a Chiropractor using their hands to apply a controlled force to your joint and guide it through a range of motion. This restores your joint’s natural movement and improves its function.
Chiropractic treatment is beneficial in treating:
- Headaches: Tension-Type, Migraines and Cervicogenic
- Joint pain / Osteorthritis
- Low back and neck pain
- Pain and dysfunction of the hips, knees, ankles and feet
- Pain and dysfunction of the shoulders, elbows, wrists and hands
- Temporomandibular joint dysfunction
